Level the Playing Field With Premium Content Management Systems

If you want to build a complete business website solution in the shortest time possible, you need a set of tools to streamline the development process. Take the drudgery out of business website development with a content management system. Now you can effectively compete with the big boys without breaking the bank.

What Are Content Management Systems?

For those that may be unaware of the term, content management systems are web development tools that allow non-programmers to set up and maintain a professional web presence within a user interface that often provides the features of a word processor. Such a system makes it easy to add content at any time without the need to hire a programmer to do the job for you.

Content management systems (CMS) have been around for many years. Many such systems are open source packages, meaning you may download and install them on your web host servers free of charge. Many packages, such as Joomla, WordPress, and DotNetNuke, are excellent systems with a growing list of features. These systems are great for individuals and business professionals looking for web development solutions that are simple to build and maintain.

Basic Content Management Systems

For individuals on a limited budget or without much knowledge of setting up websites, WordPress is probably the way to go. WordPress allows you to quickly set up a website with a web log (blog) format that may be extended with a variety of available plug-ins. The blog format is great for anyone wishing to get online quickly to promote themselves or their business. The additional plug-ins provide an array of features. These allow you to monetize your site with contextual advertisements (ex: Google AdSense), quickly and easily add audio and video, increase traffic to your site through social bookmarking, generate sitemaps, and more.

Systems such as Joomla and DotNetNuke require a bit more work to set up and maintain, but they provide many additional features that are well worth the effort. These systems can be used to create complete membership sites to develop a community portal for your customers. The e-commerce capabilities provided through various plug-ins allow you to accept payment for products and services sold from your website. You may also charge a monthly or annual fee for access to your membership site. There are plug-ins and third party tools that integrate into these content management systems to provide this functionality.

Premium Content Management System for Online Business

For those wishing to take their online business presence to the next level, there is a new tool that has just been introduced. It is called CMS Infusion, and it is being proclaimed a revolutionary web development tool for marketing on the internet. This system includes an array of powerful features:

Create Multiple Levels Of Membership - up to 20 levels deep. Create Alternate Billing Levels In Seconds (ex: free, one-time, recurring, etc.) Full automation of membership upgrades Manage All Member Information Quickly And Easily Manually Add, search, edit, and delete members (even block specific domains) Fully Automate & Schedule Data Backups (download member database or subsections) Run on Complete Autopilot - Automate Registration, Password, Welcome Messages Complete Control of Mailing Lists Send or Schedule Email Broadcasts

In addition to these standard features, there are numerous plug-ins available to enhance the basic system. You can manage secure delivery of digital downloads. This feature is often made available as a premium service (read - extra fee) of online shopping cart system. To make it better, it allows full product URL's to improve search engine optimization. If you would like to feature one of your available products on your landing page, you can do this quickly and easily with another available plug-in.

Other plug-ins include complete multi-tier affiliate and joint venture partner management systems. The affiliate system includes everything you would expect in a professional package. The joint venture module provides hands-off management of joint ventures between members. As with many other features, this may be set up as a paid or free service.

To analyze the click-through rates of your various promotions, you can implement a professional link-tracking system through another available plug-in. This is essential for implementing and monitoring your affiliate promotions. See, at a glance, the raw and unique click rates for each of your promotions.

There are many additional features included in the base system. Add audio and video to your site with the multimedia plug-in. You can effectively manage your site content with the included article and content management system. This module allows you to add unlimited content categories, set access privileges to content, and to allow users to submit their own content. You can even set the system to automatically integrate Google AdSense into the submitted content. This one module provides some very powerful features for building a content-based site.

One very interesting plug-in is the Member2Member module. The power of this module is easy to miss, but it is extremely valuable to your site's membership. This plug-in allows you to manage a variety of offerings between members of your website. Offerings may include specials and discounts available only to other members, pre-launches of new product offerings, and more. This is an excellent way to provide the ability for your membership to grow their mailing lists. It is definitely a feature that you could promote to your potential subscribers.

Hardflip - Step - By - Step Guide on How to Do a Hardflip For Beginners to Pro Skateboarders!

For the benefit of those who are new to skateboarding, let me illustrate what is a hardflip.

Hardflip is a cool trick, and if you can master the trick, you can be the coolest kid in your neighborhood!

Now a more serious definition - hardflip is a boardflip of 180 degrees at the frontal side, with a slapstick of flipping resembling a kickflip!. Rodney Mullen pioneered this trick in 1985, and made it an in-trend thingy not only to street skaters but also to those into skating.

Let me give you some tips to do the trick.

In a hardflip, rather than flipping the board beneath your legs, it is meant to flip at the center between your legs and at the same time doing a backflip followed by a half rotation. Motion-wise, it is similar to doing the frontside flip.

First step to perform this trick, at a moderate pace, roll your board with one feet at the front and the back of the skateboard. With the front foot slightly forward than it usually is, hit down the back kick as you simultaneously drag upwards your front foot and as it moves up, kick it to the side deck as similarly to kickflip. Catch and stomp the skateboard before rolling away.

The importance of the front foot stance is so that your legs will be wide enough for the skateboard to flip in between them and still able to do it without doing a 180 degrees body rotation like you see in a frontside flip. Your back foot however, needs to avoid rotating side tail of the skateboard!

You can either catch and stomp the skateboard with your front or back foot but for newbies, I would advise you to start where you can see the skateboard easily - Front!

It is crucial for you to master the motion of a backflip and a half-twist on the skateboard as the tail requires you to pop it hard in order to send it into a backflip.

It is important to also bear in mind that you should drag your foot gently upwards on the skateboard's side deck and do not try to flip it entirely which will result in a kickflip. Instead, try to give it sufficient force for a halfway rotation.

I am not able to give all the hardflip tips here. However, you can get more free tips from my site!. Click Here to check out more tips on Hardflip.

Fishing Around For Wealth

In Feng Shui, water symbolizes wealth. The word "fish" in Mandarin is pronounced the same way as "excess". That's the reason why rearing fish is one of the most effective ways to bring you wealth so that you can enjoy a life of excess.

To be able to activate the wealth energies in your home, shop or office, you'll need to learn how to set up an aquarium in the right way.

When I'm talking about setting up your aquarium in the right way, I'm neither talking about water temperature nor am I talking about ammonia and nitrite levels. I'm talking about how to set up the aquarium based on the principles of Feng Shui to attract wealth.

Where do you place your aquarium?

The location of your aquarium is very important since you want to place it where it's most ideal to accumulate wealth energies.

Of the four sectors of your house, the front and the back have the biggest impact on your wealth. It's not advisable, however, to set up your aquarium at the back of your house.

The back of the house, where the bedrooms are usually at, is a sector that should be kept peaceful and quiet. Since there's too much activities and movement generated by the aquarium with the fishes swimming and the filter pumping away, it's recommended that you place the aquarium in the front sector near the front door.

What's the shape of your fish tank?

You may not know this, but the shape of your fish tank is an important factor that you need to pay attention to when setting up the aquarium.

Buying a fish tank of the wrong shape may actually adversely affect the health of the people living in the house (or working in the office) instead of attracting wealth.

The best fish tank (strictly from a Feng Shui perspective) is a circular fish tank.

Why are circular fish tanks the best?

First, circular fish tanks do not have sharp corners (or "poison arrows") which can be detrimental to your health.

Second, a circle belongs to the Metal element. And according to the Cycle of Birth of the Five Elements, Metal melts into a liquid state when subjected to intense heat. Hence, Metal is said to give birth to Water (Wealth).

The conventional rectangular tank (with 90-degree corners) is considered neither good nor bad so if you can't find a circular tank, go for the rectangular ones.

How many fish should I keep?

The number of fish you should rear will depend on your element.

If you belong to the Water element, you should have either 1 or 6 fish.

If you belong to the Fire element, you should have either 2 or 7 fish.

If you belong to the Wood element, you should have either 3 or 8 fish.

If you belong to the Metal element, you should have either 4 or 9 fish.

If you belong to the Earth element, you should have either 5 or 10 fish.

It doesn't mean that the more fish you have, the more wealth you'll attract. The number of fish you keep should depend on the size of your fish tank. Afterall what you want is a thriving aquarium.

What types of fish should you keep?

In general you can keep any kind of fish although the arowana, flower horn fish (Luo Han) and goldfish are good for attracting wealth.

Problems Running One Sided Lamination With a Two Sided Roll Laminator

Once or twice a month I have a photographer or someone in the print trades call me to ask about doing one sided laminating on a two sided roll laminator. My first response (and the correct response) to these individuals is "You know that your laminator isn't designed for that don't you?". However, when they find out that a laminator designed for single sided lamination starts at about $20,000 they suddenly become even more interested in trying single sided lamination on their existing laminator. After explaining to them that it can be somewhat tricky and that results aren't guaranteed, I then go on to explain how some of my customers have accomplished this. Here's a couple of tips...

The first problem that you run into when trying to do single sided lamination on a Traditional Roll Laminator is that if you aren't careful you will end up leaving adhesive and wrapping the film around the rollers of your laminator. Most laminators use a Laminating Film on the top and the bottom and the two layers stick to each other in places where material does not need to be laminated. However, with single sided lamination this is not possible. Here are the three primary ways that people get around this... Some people choose to run a roll of Kraft Paper on the bottom roller of their laminator. The single sided laminating film will adhere to the Kraft Paper anywhere that there isn't a document. This will protect your rollers but adds to the cost of your finished laminated materials. Some individuals choose to run two rolls of single sided laminating film at one time. They then place their book covers, prints and materials back to back and laminate two pieces at one time. This is often an option that works well for people. However, depending on your laminator and the materials that you are laminating this option can sometimes negate some of the anti curl properties of the single sided laminating films. Some users choose to run a laminating roll that is a little bit more narrow than the documents that they are running through it. These individuals then overlap their documents slightly as they feed them into the laminator. Afterwards they simply flush trim the documents or covers for their finished product. The second problem (and probably the worst) faced by individuals who are trying to do single sided lamination on a standard roll laminator is that they find that their finished products curl. Large single sided laminators are designed with special features that help to negate this curl. If you don't have the option of a true single sided laminator you need to make sure that you use a Lay Flat nylon laminating film that is designed for single sided applications. You still may end up with some curl but a single sided laminating film such as GBC Digital Lay Flat laminating film will help to eliminate some of this curl. The third problem faced by many individuals trying to do single sided lamination involves the adhesive used in many laminating films. Many laminating films, even lay flat nylon films are not designed to adhere to digital output. The high fuser oil content of may digital prints does not lend itself to lamination. When you flush trim a digital print that is laminated with many of these films the laminate will begin to peel off the print. As a solution to this problem it is highly recommended that you consider running a Hi Tac laminating film that is specifically formulated for digital output. GBC's Digital Lay Flat Laminating film is designed for this application. The fourth and final major problem faced by individuals who try to do single sided lamination with their existing roll laminator involves the availability of supplies. Currently GBC Digital Lay Flat laminating film is only available on either a 2.25" or 3" core. However, the rolls on a 3" core are 3000' long and won't fit on many laminators. This means that if you want to try GBC Digital Lay Flat Laminating film you will need to have a roll laminator with the ability to accept a 2.25" core. If you are looking for a large quantity it may be possible to have this film produced on another core size or in other lengths but this usually requires an order of at least $2000.

Truthfully, doing single sided lamination on a tradition two sided laminator is not a recommended application. However, if you choose to try and perfect the process and save the cost of buying a really expensive laminator hopefully these tips will help.

Twirling Into the Wind Future

Soon, the energy debate will come back into the headlines. Also, the bill which contains the oil drilling moratorium on federal lands is due to expire this month.

Those who are opposed to drilling will once again point to alternatives such as wind, solar and biofuels. Pursuing all alternatives should be our policy. Since 2001, the United States government has spent over $18 billion in this research.

With all of this "investment", the most economical and diverse form of energy is still oil. Oil's diversity is not only in the energy that is produced, but the products that are manufactured and supplied to our economy.

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the most common products from petroleum are energy products: gasoline, heating oil, and diesel fuel. Other petroleum products are: ink, crayons, bubble gum, dishwashing liquids, deodorant, eyeglasses, records, tires, ammonia, and heart valves.

Additional refined products include, petrochemical feedstock - products derived from petroleum principally for the manufacturing of chemicals, synthetic rubber and plastics.

The most talked about alternative right now is wind. T. Boone Pickens has been advertising this alternative for about 3 months now. On the surface, wind turbines sound great as another form of energy. They look very sleek and are always presented as a green alternative to oil.

Mr. Pickens plan is to have wind farms replace natural gas power plants so that natural gas can be used in place of gasoline for transportation needs. Can this really work in the market place and take care of our energy needs? No.

T. Boone Pickens is a smart man. He recognizes the need for our country to become energy independent and the current anti-oil, anti-nuclear, anti-coal energy environment our congress and environmentalist have been in.

But wind is not adequately sufficient to replace natural gas or any fossil fuel plant. Wind provides 1% of our current electricity as compared to 22% for natural gas. So how much energy can you get from a wind turbine or for that matter, a wind farm?

As noted in the Investor's Business Daily, "...to replace natural gas' 22% with wind would require building 300,000 1.5-megawatt turbines occupying an area the size of South Carolina."

If wind is such great a source of energy, and natural gas powered cars are the way of the future, why isn't more private capital being invested in these new wind farms? Unless the United States government commits to subsidizing wind energy for the next 20 years, there is no money to make.

The primary subsidy for wind is a credit that is given for each kilowatt hour of energy that is produced. As the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported in a recent article; "In 1999, 2001 and 2003, when Congress temporarily killed the credits, the number of new turbines dropped dramatically."

Since we haven't figured out how to store the electricity that is produced from any power plant, every wind farm must be backed up by a conventional power plant. Wind turbines only produce energy when the wind is blowing. And as we are beginning to find out, these turbine farms are loud and kill lots of birds. Give it about 3 more years and the environmentalist will be trying to shut down this industry the same way it has tried to shut down nuclear power.

So what happens if we do the Pickens plan? Well, to get the natural gas to accommodate the future transportation needs of this country, we need to drill. How ironic! We also need to create the infrastructure and market to fuel vehicles with natural gas; more subsidies.

If an energy technology is not economically competitive, no amount of public subsidies will make it so. We should be advocating our congressional leaders to remove all energy subsidies from the federal budget and tax code. This will allow each and every energy source and technology to compete with one another on a level playing field. It will also save you and me billions of dollars.

Unfortunately, the future energy needs of our country are not ironic. We will need 135 gigawatts of new capacity in the next ten years. Right now, plants producing a total of 57 gigawatts are planned. Environmental groups like the National Resources Defense Council have succeeded in stopping 13 natural gas power plants from coming online in southern California.

According to Rick P. Sergel, chief executive at the North American Electric Reliability Corporation, "There isn't any excess in the system."

The bottom line is that we have the resources to take care of our energy needs. We should have a diversity of supply, a level economic playing field and common sense environmental regulations.
